Electronic Resources Help


This page contains information to help you when using the electronic resource databases from campus or from home.

Logging In

From the library webpage select Electronic Resources\Databases.  If you are not already logged into the intranet, a login screen will appear.

Login the same way you log into any intranet page.  There is no need to enter laroche\ before you user ID.

For example:

User Name: smithj1
Password: XXXXXXX


Using Databases Off-Campus

A few of the databases have a Connect from off-Campus option (OCLC, LexisNexis, Criminal Justice Abstracts, Mergent, etc.).  This means if you want to use this database and you are not on campus you must enter through this link.  This is the only way a database can verify that you are a student, staff or faculty member of LaRoche college.

If the database will not work once you are logged into it, here are a few tips:

Try to enable your pop-ups option for the La Roche College intranet. If a pop-up is blocked, you will see a yellow information bar at the top of the page.  Click on the information bar and select the option to Always Allow Pop-ups from this Site... under the Pop-Up Blocked menu option.

You may also want to try enabling session cookies. From your Microsoft Internet Explorer Page choose "Tools " from the menu bar at the top of the page and then choose "Internet Options". From the Internet options box choose the "Privacy" tab and click on the "Advanced" button. You can then choose how cookies are handled in the Internet zone.
